Buildings and Grounds

The Building and Grounds Committee is charged with the responsibility of implementing the Church Maintenance Plan. The objective of this plan is to keep the church property in usable condition. This is necessary to meet the various needs and requirements of our ministry programs. Specifically, a well managed and coordinated maintenance program will:

  • Promote health and safety for our congregation and guests
  • Provide annual operating cost economies
  • Prevent custodial staff time loss
  • Preserve property values
  • Prevent deterioration and obsolescence
  • Promote community pride

The Maintenance Plan uses the combined efforts of multiple labor sources to accomplish the objectives set forth above. It is the unique combination of staff, volunteers and professional contractors working together to make this plan effective. Specifically:

  • Weekly Work Crew - The weekly work crew is composed of men and women who volunteer their time to work at the church one morning a week. The work completed by this group saves the church from outsourcing the work to contractors. This group works under the guidance and direction of the Building and Grounds Committee.
  • Custodial Staff - Custodial duties are numerous and varied. They range from cleaning , vacuuming, trash removal and classroom and parish hall tables/chairs setups.
  • Service Contractors - There are many service contracts or agreements entered into by the church for the ongoing maintenance our facility Specifically these contracts are for fire alarm service, telephone service, HVAC maintenance, boiler service, copier service, landscaping service and pest control.
