St James Charities Foundation, the social outreach organization founded by St James Episcopal Church in Hendersonville, has awarded nearly $300,000 in grants to over 80 agencies to support those in need in Henderson County since its inception in 1988.
The St. James Charities Foundation currently is accepting grant applications from agencies and organizations serving Henderson County. Applications are encouraged from organizations which give aid to the sick, the needy, the lonely or the physically or emotionally impaired, which contribute to the developmental needs of children, are creative and innovative and whose needs are not met by other entities. Total funding available this grant cycle is expected to be approximately $12,500.
Applications requirements have changed. The applications must be mailed or delivered to the church no later than December 20, 2009. For further information, please contact David Marshall, executive secretary for the foundation, at 694-6927.

St. James established an endowed fund to help meet basic human and community needs in Henderson County, Western North Carolina and the world beyond. The Board of Stewards meets four times a year and awards grants in February and August. To be considered for a grant, your organization must complete and submit an application.
