Greeters - Members who strive to make every person who walks through the open doors of St. James feel welcome. They ask visitors to sign the guest book and answer any questions the visitor may have. They distribute information to those who want to know more about our church. At the end of the 9:00 am or the 11:15 am service, greeters invite visitors to accompany them to the coffee hour in the Parish Hall.
Newcomers Ministry - Members contact each visitor who has signed the guest book by phone to get acquainted and to extend an invitation to the next Newcomers’ Reception. At receptions newcomers are welcomed in an informal setting, are provided information about the church and its ministries. A tour of the building is provided and pictures are taken for the Newcomers’ bulletin board. Each newcomer who is becoming a member will have a mentor to be a special friend during the first six months of membership, as the new member becomes active in parish life. The rector offers an orientation class called “St. James 101.”
