African Medical Mission - Parishioners Dr. Chris McConnachie, an orthopedic surgeon, and his wife, Jennie, a Registered Nurse, founded AMM in 1981 as an outreach mission. AMM is involved in providing medical care and primary health care initiatives to improve the health of the local people in South Africa. Carpenters Club - This ministry is comprised of a group of industrious parishioners interested in taking hammer in hand to assist in efforts to provide adequate housing for low-income families (formerly Housing Assistance Corporation) of Henderson County. Members typically work in teams on Saturday mornings, assisting in this self-help housing program or undertaking short term housing rehabilitation projects. Interfaith Assistance Ministry (IAM) - An ecumenical, non-profit community organization providing basic needs and support to Henderson County families. A food pantry, clothing closet, and assistance with utility and medical bills, rent, and other necessities are available. The aim is to enable independent functioning through training and counseling. As a parish, St. James is committed to support IAM's ministry to the community. St. James has been partnering with families identified by Interfaith Assistance Ministry as needing help.

Medical Loan Closet - A unique outreach project of St. James, the Medical Loan Closet loans medical equipment designed to comfort and speed the recovery of persons suffering from accidents or illness. Through a staff of interdenominational volunteers, the Medical Loan Closet serves all Henderson County residents regardless of race or religion. Outreach Commission - Responding to Christ's call to feed the hungry and comfort the afflicted, the commission's work sponsors housing workdays, the annual Hunger Walk, and encourages wider participation in outreach through education and improved communications. The Outreach commission is also in charge of designating, for distribution, that portion of the operating budget that is earmarked for outreach. St. James Charities Foundation - An endowed fund established to help meet basic human and community needs in Henderson County, Western North Carolina and the world beyond. St. James School for Little Folks and Board The school serves preschool age children by providing full-day and half-day care in a Christian atmosphere year-round. Thursday Thrift Shop Provides a service to the community by providing used clothing, household items and better quality consignment items for sale. Hispanic Ministry at St. Mary's - This ministry to the Spanish speaking community in the Dioceses is headquartered at La Capilla de Santa Maria/St. Mary's Chapel.
