ANNOUNCEMENTS

Welcome visitors and new members. Please join us for coffee or tea and conversation after the 9:00 and 11:15 services. We ask you to please put your name and phone number in the blue friendship book found in each pew.

Ministry Fair: St. James will host the annual Ministry Fair on Sunday, September 7. All members and guests are encouraged to attend and familiarize themselves with the multitude of ministries at St. James Church. For further information, or to reserve space for your ministry, please contact Lynn Place at mlpfrog@yahoo.com or 685-2726.

Think globally, act locally: According to the Dept. of Energy, a loaded roof rack on your car can decrease fuel economy by 5%. Also, every 100 pounds you carry in a car reduces a typical car's fuel economy by 1 to 2 percent. So, when you go on vacation or a long car trip, put everything you can inside your vehicle, and pack light!

Parishioners: We have entered the time of year in which we are using air conditioning in the church on Sundays. Each of us has a unique and different body thermostat, so you may want to consider the following in addressing your own comfort needs: 1) if you are cold natured, sit near the center aisle as the air ducts are on the outside aisle of the church and you may want to bring a jacket or sweater. 2) if you are hot natured, sit near the outside aisle as that is where the colder air is and you may want to forgo a jacket or wrap. Please DO NOT adjust any thermostat in any church building. The last unauthorized adjustment cost the church $175.00 in service costs. Thanks. -David Marshall

Parish Breakfast: The next Parish breakfast will take place next Saturday, July 12, in the Parish Hall at 8:30 a.m.(note new time) The speakers will be two parishioners from St. Phillips in Brevard who have been to Durgapur and have a PowerPoint presentation of their trip. Please sign up in the reception area. This will be our last Parish Breakfast until September. See you July 12th.

Food for thought: All church members can name the church as the last beneficiary in their wills. Ask Planned Giving Committee.

Thanks to all of you who participated in, supported and helped with the Jamaican Fundraising dinner. A good time was had by all and the fundraising exceed our goal. Thank you!

WNC Cursillo-66: The Fall Cursillo will be held September 25-28, 2008 at Lake Logan. This is a 3-day event designed to strengthen and renew the faith of Christians and bring them to a new and more active awareness of living in God's grace. For more information contact Cheryl Anders 693-8379, Matthew Rogers 692-0228 or Judy Ludden 693-8671.

New Policy July 1: To assure that all groups seeking donations are equally and fairly heard we will consolidate all such requests into an insert for the bulletin for the first Sunday of each month. The announcement will also accompany the e-bulletin for that day. Requests will be limited to 50 words or less, and an individual(s) named who will provide additional information. This practice will begin with the first Sunday of July. The deadline for these announcements will be the Monday before the 1st Sunday of the month. The fastest way to turn in your request is by email to vicki@stjamesepiscopal.com.

Attention all St. James parishioners 80 years old and older: You are invited to attend an Appreciation Tea in your honor on Wednesday afternoon, August 13, 2008 at 3 p.m. in Stillwell Hall. Please write a one- page summary of a special memory or experience from your life. This could include successes, joys, struggles, family, or a St. James experience. From these memories what words of wisdom would you give to the younger generation? We will compile your remembrances into a book called Words of Wisdom which you will receive at the Appreciation Tea. Please mail your one page remembrance to the church (attention: Mother Eunice) prior to August 1 and make sure your name appears on your page. If you wish you may email your page to eunice@stjamesepiscopal.com. Please, call the Church office at 693-7458 before August 5 if you will be attending and tell us whether or not you will be bringing a friend. There is also a signup sheet at the Reception Desk. We look forward to honoring you!

Faith Link: SOS . . . from our Faith Link family. Our mom has been hesitant to let us know, but let it slip in a conversation that she could really use "Pull-ups" for her 3 year old. She needs them in a size 4 Toddler. If you could help us out with these, she would be so very appreciative. -Your Faith Link Team

A Daisy's Place request: Ladies, please check your jewelry boxes for broken or old strands of beads. Daisy and her children would like to make earrings and necklaces which she could sell to locals and tourists, and we could also bring some back to sell at the fall outreach fair. Please locate any beads this week and put them in the marked box in the office. We still need four pair of needle nose pliers (old ones) and any miscellaneous beading supplies. Any questions? Call Shirley Walsh, 696-2100.
