Fun, Food & Fellowship
This social group helps couples and singles form bonds of friendship through an active social program. It meets monthly on the second Friday of each month for worship, lunch, and a program or trip. All parishioners and their friends are welcome to join the group at any time.
Greeters - This ministry's purpose is to make newcomers and visitors feel welcome at St. James. They greet those attending services and visit newcomers at home soon after their church visit.
Newcomers Incorporation Committee - The purpose is to welcome all newcomers to St. James and help them become part of the church family through visits by greeters, a welcoming letter and a visit from a commission member. The committee also coordinates a periodic "get-acquainted" party to facilitate newcomers meeting with clergy, vestry and other parishioners.
Nursery - St. James provides nursery care for infants and children through the age of four years old on Sunday mornings during the 9 am service, Sunday school hour, and the 11 am service. The nursery is staffed by both paid workers and volunteers, working together to provide loving care for our youngest parishioners.
Office Support Volunteers
St. James staffs the reception desk at the church with volunteers in half-day shifts. Presently ten people are scheduled to cover a specific shift at the front desk each week. Additional volunteers are available as substitutes. These volunteers answer the phone, greet visitors to the church, and help the office staff with various chores that can be done while covering the front desk. This ministry is essential to the parish and new volunteers are always welcome.
