TWO SERVICES OF ADVENT LESSONS & CAROLS AT ST. JAMES
WITH MONTREAT SCOTTISH PIPES AND DRUMS
St. James Episcopal Church, Hendersonville will present two services of Advent Lessons & Carols on Saturday, November 27th and Sunday, November 28th at 5:00 p.m.. Both services will be identical and will feature The Montreat Scottish Pipes and Drums, an ensemble dedicated to preserving and performing classical Scottish music in Western North Carolina, led by St. James parishioner Joseph Bailey. Officiants for the service will be The Rev. David Henson, The Rev. Christiana Olsen, and The Rev. Tim Jones.

The St. James Choir led by Director of Music Brad Gee will be singing carols and anthems appropriate to the readings including Advent Responsory by Michael McCarthy, Adam Lay Ybounden by Peter Warlock , Charles Wood’s Never Weather-Beaten Sail, and other carols by Malcolm Archer, John Rutter, and Robert Powell. Pre-service music will feature Paul Doebler playing Three Carols for Flute and Organ by Michael Barker, and trumpeter Larry Black playing As the Deer by Martin Nystrom. Howard Bakken will be the organist for the services.

While no tickets are required, contributions of any amount are welcomed and appreciated in support of the music ministry of St. James. A minimum donation of $10 per person is suggested. Advance donations may be given by texting “GiveStJ” to 73256, clicking on the link, and then selecting “Music.”
