The 29th annual Candlemas concert, featuring pianist and composer Paul Sullivan, was a resounding success. Some 280 listeners filled St. James' nave and chapel, and they were mesmerized by the pianist's original compositions from many different genres. And to the delight of the audience, Sullivan was joined on the final three numbers by his friend and award-winning bassist, Eliot Wadopian. A beautiful "Hors d'oeuvres by Candlelight" reception provided by Hubba Hubba Specialty Catering rounded out the evening of entertainment. All of this was made possible once again by the many generous underwriters who are committed to quality musical performances and to helping meet the needs of hungry people in Henderson county. Over the next few weeks, the St. James Outreach Commission will distribute the Candlemas proceeds to Interfaith Assistance Ministries, the Hendersonville Rescue Mission, and The Storehouse.

Over 150 people from many faiths and backgrounds came together at St. James on MLK Day to work for the common good (see photo to the right). In the course of a few hours, 2,530 lbs of rice and beans were packaged into 7,152 individual meals to be distributed via the Storehouse.  Additionally, boxes of delicious homemade cookies and brownies were packed and delivered to ten different first responder locations.
