Over 150 people from many faiths and backgrounds came together at St. James on MLK Day to work for the common good (see photo to the right). In the course of a few hours, 2,530 lbs of rice and beans were packaged into 7,152 individual meals to be distributed via the Storehouse. Additionally, boxes of delicious homemade cookies and brownies were packed and delivered to ten different first responder locations.
Everyone agreed that it was a wonderful way to spend a "Day On" working for the community. Thanks to all who worked so hard to make this happen and especially to our sponsors and planners: Agudas Israel Synagogue, First Congregational United Church of Christ, Grace Lutheran Church, Holy Family Episcopal Church, La Capilla de Santa Maria, NAACP of Henderson County, North Henderson High School ROTC, St. James Episcopal Church, St. James Cub Scout Pack # 607, St. Paul Tabernacle AME Zion, Sam’s Club, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, and Wingate University Health Sciences.
