St. James Episcopal Church, Hendersonville will present two services of Advent Lessons & Carols on Saturday, November 30th and Sunday, December 1st at 5:00 PM. The services will be identical and will feature The Montreat Scottish Pipes and Drums, a Western North Carolina ensemble dedicated to preserving and performing classical Scottish music and led by St. James parishioner Joseph Bailey.
The St. James Choir led by Director of Music Brad Gee will sing carols and anthems appropriate to the readings including Matin Responsory by David Ashley White, Jesus Christ the Apple Tree by Elizabeth Poston, Charles Wood’s Never Weather-Beaten Sail, and other carols by Richard Shephard, John Ferguson, and Robert Powell. Pre-service music will feature trumpeters Larry Black and Bryan Kraak playing the Manfredini Concerto for Two Trumpets. Howard Bakken will be the organist for the service.
While no tickets are required, contributions of any amount are welcomed and appreciated in support of the music ministry of St. James. A minimum donation of $10 per person is suggested.
