Carole Haskell with other Feed the Kid Leader
You are a gift. You are enough. You are called at different times to different forms of service in the kingdom of God. Each one of us is called based on the unique gift(s) bestowed upon us.
As a parish family St. James has ministries that serve those in our parish as well as those in our community and hundreds of miles away. As you learn more about each ministry take time to pray for guidance as to where the Holy Spirit is leading you to serve and in what way. You do not have to “do it all”. Stewardship is not all or nothing. It is something.
If you are serving where and how you are called you will find peace in that place. Through the last several years I have had the opportunity to serve in
a variety of ministries at two different parishes. Children’s chapel, Austin Street Centre meals and donations, receptions coordinator, vestry, capital campaign lead at Holy Trinity in Texas, co-leader for Feed the Kids Team 1 and Hospitability Guild at St. James. Prior to this I volunteered in other capacities as I felt called. Each of these ministries and my small part in them enriched my life in one way or another. I have made lasting friendships. I have learned about our parish and our community.
Most important is that my relationship with the Lord has deepened.
As we give of our time and talent we develop relationships. As we serve we find ourselves blessed in ways we never imagined. As we give of our treasure we develop practices that make us more financially independent and responsible. Find that one thing. You will be glad you did.
Your Sister in Christ,
Carole Haskell
