Prayer isn’t just clasping one’s hands and asking for stuff and it’s not just reading prayers from the Prayer Book. Christian faith has a long and diverse history and practice of prayer. During these weeks, we will explore different ways of praying that engage our imaginations and bodies and even Outreach!
Nov. 5: Poetry as Prayer with the Rev. Tim Jones
Join the Rev. Tim Jones as he talks about the spiritual practice of poetry and poetry’s connection with prayer.
Nov. 12: Contemplative Prayer with the Rt. Rev. Porter Taylor
Join Bishop Taylor as he shares with us the wisdom of contemplative prayer and the works of modern Christian mystic Cynthia Bourgeault
Nov. 18 (Saturday) between 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Labyrinth Walk at the Broenner Home
Experience the ancient prayer practice of walking the labyrinth, a special form of embodied prayer that dates back some 4,000 years.
Nov. 19: Service as Prayer featuring a Panel from our Outreach Committee & Partners
Come and hear members of our Outreach Committee and their partners discuss the ways they embody faith and ministry through service of our neighbors.
Nov. 26: Embodied Prayer: Art, Athletics, Prayer Beads, and Imaginative Prayer
On this Sunday, there will be a brief introduction and an opportunity to create and practice various kinds of prayer, including painting, coloring, prayer beads, and Ignatian prayer.
 
Advent Around the Manger: The Characters and Culture of the Nativity
Sundays, Dec. 3-17 at 9 a.m.

Join us each week as we take a close look at the characters and culture that surround the birth of Jesus. Learn about the significance of all the players that bring the birth of Christ to life–and learn about the characters and images we’ve come to expect that don’t actually appear in the story.

  Second Tuesdays at noon in the St. James Room
  Beginning Tuesday, September 13, we will explore the spiritual themes found in short stories specially curated by our clergy.

 Adult Sunday School is called Christian Formation and focuses on theology, introspective reflection, and how our faith calls us to fight for justice in the world. We gather each Sunday from 9-9:45 a.m. in the Trinity Room and online. Please check the eBulletin in your inbox for the Zoom meeting invitation.  We invite scholars from all across North Carolina and the East Coast to lead presentations.
