St. James has a long history of living its ministry in our community. Just a few of these programs some exclusive to St. James, but most are with other community groups are listed below.
Blessings in Boxes - Ministry Leaders: Sarah and Carson Carpenter
Blessings in Boxes provides Christmas gifts to 2000 children and youth in Henderson County through The Storehouse.
St. James Home Repair Ministry (formally Carpenters’ Club) - Ministry Leader: Bill Burdett
Carpenters’ Club provides hand-on housing rehabilitation and construction assistance for those who are unable to provide for themselves.
Feed the Kids - Ministry Leaders: Carole Haskell and Patti Brotherton
Feed the Kids is a cooperative effort among several churches in Hendersonville to provide a hot meal at the Boys and Girls Club on Friday afternoons. This meal is, for many of the children, the last hot meal they will have before returning to school on Monday. Prep work is done on Thursdays, and the final preparation and serving is on Fridays. Henderson County Hunger Coalition - Ministry Leader: Alex Kealy
Henderson County Hunger Coalition sponsors the Walk for Hunger each year to meet the needs of the hungry in our community.
Outreach Commission- Ministry Leader: Ann Valentine and Alex Kealy
Outreach Commission - Initiates and facilitates a variety of projects which provide financial support to benefit others in need, educates the parish of those opportunities, and explores future charitable needs.
